as a certified applicator in the state of Wyoming, I've been through the process of getting my applicators license once already. The state of Wyoming is a far less agrivating process, while the difficulty of the test is still the same. The test costs 25$ and you can take it in dozens of cities in the state. On the other hand, the state of Colorado requires you to apply to take the tests after charging you 25, 30, or $35 for the information for each individual test. The tests themselves cost $35 a piece just to schedule, non-refundable of course, and you have to take a minimum of the core test and one other test for you to be able to apply again for the license which costs an additional 100$. The CO Department of Ag only has 6 places that offer testing, and they're spread so far apart that it takes an unreasonable amount of time to get there if you don't live in one of those cities. They make you apply through a third-party website that doesn't offer any sort of refund unless you call them well in advance. As a person that's working more than 60 hours a week while trying to become an applicator, obtaining an applicator license in the state of Colorado is completely ridiculous, but that's just my opinion.
